The Official Welcome Party for First-Year Medical Students
Stepping into medical school is a big deal — new faces, new pressure, new beginnings.
And before the lectures pile up and anatomy starts testing your peace, the Medical Students’ Association (MSA) invites you to unwind, connect, and officially feel at home.
This year, we’re not just welcoming you —
we’re welcoming every side of you.
Theme: Alter Ego Night
Be who you’re not.
Everyone knows the version of you that shows up to lectures, tutorials, and clinicals.
But what about the version they don’t know?
Alter Ego Night is your chance to:
-
Switch personalities
-
Break your usual image
-
Step out boldly as a different version of yourself — just for the night
If there’s ever a time to surprise people, this is it.
Dress To Confuse
We are banning “normal.” If you show up in your regular Friday wear, you’re doing it wrong. Confidence is the primary accessory.
The “Do” List (Go Bold or Go Home):
-
The Switch-Up: Are you usually quiet? Show up LOUD. Usually sporty? Show up in High Glam. Minimalist? Go Extra.
-
The Statement: Think dramatic makeup, colored wigs, floor-length statement pieces, or avant-garde accessories.
-
The Persona: Costumes, iconic characters, or exaggerated styles that represent a side of you people never see in class.
-
The Reaction: Your goal is to hear someone say: “Wait… is that actually you?” 😛
The “Don’t” List (The No-Fly Zone):
-
The “Lazy” Fit: No regular jeans and T-shirts without a concept.
-
The “Classroom” Look: If you could wear it to a PBL session or a Sunday service, keep it in the closet.
-
The “Safe” Choice: No neutral, boring, or “I just came as myself” outfits. This is a night for the bold.
💡 Confidence is part of the outfit.
If you’re comfortable, you’re doing it wrong.
If someone who knows you looks at you and asks:
“Is this really you?”
😛 You’re dressed right.
AKWAABA BASH 2026
Alter Ego Night — because medical school should start with memories, not stress.
We’re waiting for the version of you we’ve never met. 🪩✨
